Paper Mache is made by combining water and flour. you have to build the shape of what you're making and then paper mache over it. Our piece was somewhat successful because we got a really good base shape and it pretty cool even though its not finished. Every part of this piece was very difficult. We were trying to scale the dinosaur properly while still trying to keep it big and realistic.

For this Project I had to make a slab of clay and lay it overtop of the plate mold. Then i used my pre drawn Viking ship to trace it on to the clay and then i drew in the details to make it look like a wooden ship. The piece was never technically finished and i wish it would have turned out differently. The sgrafitto process was not bad i just stopped working on it to work on the paper mache and that's where i went wrong. It didn't really end up being successful but in the future i definitely will not leave clay sitting out.
Colton did the a lot of the sculpting for the project. Jack did most of the painting and some paper mache. I did most of the paper mache and a little bit of helping with sculpting. We started out by using the ball to put stuff over it and make the monkeys general face shape. After that we started adding more detailed features to the face. Then we paper mache the head and painted the next day after that dried.
I came into this project with really no plans. I think what makes it cooler is that its more imprisation than anything. That made this project a lot more entertaining to do and really just gave me freedom to do what i wanted. Next time i would definitely like to try to come in with a plan and see how much better i can really do. It didn't turn out amazing but still creative.
I started out by planning the mug out with drawings. i kind of already knew what design i wanted to do and then from there i cut a clay slab and shaped it into a large cylinder. Then came making the tripod legs, i did this by folding in the bottom towards itself into a central meeting point. Then i textured the mug using a premade stencil. Next the vines and leaves were put on it it was then glazed and fired multiple times. I have one handle and it wraps all the way down towards the bottom of the mug. If i were to do it again i would try to find a better way to texture it without rubbing some of the texturing off on accident. A clay slab is a large flat piece of clay used sometimes for the main part of a piece.
I decided to recreate my flower picture from when I chose the word grow. I chose this image to re-create because it was kind of plain in just black and white with shading and I believed it would look better with color. originally I thought why not just add color it will look good then I decided to take it a little bit further. I wanted to give the growing flower a little bit of character so I drew three different images going the the growth of a flower. I thought it would look really good if I drew the final flower with the night sky behind it to represent this all kind of happening in one day.
artists represent human experience by showing memories and very signifigant events because that is really what life is about meeting new people and having fun so that you are able to create these good memories.for example although my portrait is just a flower it can represent life and how quickly you can grow up. this flower went from a sprout to a full grown flower from morning to night and thats really how fast some people want to grow up but you have to live your life slow and dont take anything for granted. I think that my nuclear bomb candle was actually very good for human expirience even though nuclear weapons are not used right now there are many countries that have nukes and we could expirience them if their is not nuclear disarmement. north korea has been testing hydrogen bombs and said they want them to be a ble to reach the US so thats a good example right there. The final project for the clay unit is not yet done but for my drawing i did a sea turtle from an above view. I chose this because i really like beachy things and i figured that it would look good on clay. this project was extremely challenging because we had to make very fine details with large tools. i learned that working with clay is actually a lot more challenging than i first believed.
i learned to interpret lines as art by themselves because really lines make everything. its very easy to make some simple art out of just lines and can also be very fun. i feel like my final drawing for this unit was pretty good because its very unique. it represents lines well because its showing lines can really make anything if if not an object.
in this unit i chose force perspective and a new skill that i learned is really how to use your camera to your advantage and take a picture that looks really cool. originally i thought of this as a very boring and easy thing to do, i now realize it is very difficult and it was fun if you have a group. challenges that we had in this unit were actually making it look realistic. The colored pencil drawing was an intro to unit 3 and it was fun because colored pencils are nice to draw with and turn out looking very good if you do well. what is challenging about working with colored pencils is trying to get the shading correct when you are trying to use weird colors like blue and brown on a color like green. What i learned in this unit is how to make very good contrast using a lot of different colors other than black and white.
